Abstract
Embodiments involve rotors for axial flux induction rotating electric machines that use a soft magnetic composite for the rotor core. A first embodiment is directed to a rotor for a rotating electrical machine that transmits magnetic flux parallel to a shaft of the rotor. The rotor includes a rotor winding and a plurality of cores. The rotor winding consists of a solid piece of conductive material that comprises a plurality of cavities. Each core is placed in a respective cavity and comprises a highly resistive isotropic ferromagnetic powder.
Claims28
An axial flux rotating electrical machine, the machine comprising:
- an endbell;
- a stator core made of a magnetic composite, comprising:
- a plurality of teeth, each transmitting flux from a magnetic circuit and separated from adjacent teeth by a slot,
- a base portion connecting the plurality of teeth and shorting the magnetic circuit, and
- a lip extending from the base portion;
- and
- a bracket that attaches to the endbell and engages with the lip to hold stationary the single-piece stator in the endbell.
A stator core for an axial flux rotating electrical machine, the stator core comprising:
- a plurality of teeth, each transmitting flux from a magnetic circuit and separated by a slot,
- a base portion connecting the plurality of teeth and shorting the magnetic circuit;
- and
- a lip extending from the base portion and configured to engage with a bracket that attaches to the stator core and an endbell to hold the stator core stationary within the endbell,
- wherein the plurality of teeth, base portion, and lip are made from a single piece of soft magnetic composite.
A bracket for an axial flux rotating electrical machine, the bracket comprising:
- a lip that engages with a lip of a single-piece stator core to hold stationary the single-piece stator core for the axial flux rotating electrical machine in an endbell for the axial flux rotating electrical machine;
- and
- an attachment to affix the bracket to the endbell.
