Abstract
The insulatable cementitious building block is a concrete block formed with first, second, third, and fourth spaced parallel rectangular walls, where the parallel walls are connected by offset and constricted cross-webs in parallel planes to each other and perpendicular to each of the walls. All the cross webs are from the bottom of their corresponding walls to the height of the second and third wall. The walls together with their cross webs form openings that allow for filling with insulating inserts dimensioned to fill the spaces between. Alternatively, the spaces between all walls plus the spaces above the second and third walls and above all cross-webs may be filled with liquid expandable foam.
Claims5
A preformed substantially rectangular building block for constructing tall walls that may be insulated with the use of either preformed inserts that are placed within the cores of the block during construction or may be filled with liquid expandable foam insulation after construction.
