Abstract
The present invention provides compositions, methods, and kits based on a novel two-enzyme system. This system uses a combination of an appendage dependent endoxylanase and xylobiohydrolase activity to produce xylobiose and xylan-derived oligosaccharides using lignocellulosic biomass material, an enriched xylan fraction thereof, or an extracted, purified xylan material as a starting material.
Claims20
A composition for the production of xylobiose and defined aldouronates, the composition comprising:
- a) an isolated appendage dependent endoxylanase;
- and
- b) an isolated xylobiohydrolase comprising an amino acid sequence with at least 90% identity to a sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1-13 or a portion thereof with xylobiohydrolase activity.
A method for producing xylobiose, the method comprising contacting a lignocellulosic biomass material, an enriched xylan fraction thereof, or an extracted, purified xylan material with:
- a) an isolated appendage dependent endoxylanase;
- and
- b) an isolated xylobiohydrolase comprising an amino acid sequence with at least 90% identity to a sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1-13 or a portion thereof with xylobiohydrolase activity;
- thereby producing a product mixture comprising xylobiose and defined aldouronates.
A kit for producing xylobiose, the kit comprising:
- a) an isolated appendage dependent endoxylanase;
- and
- b) an isolated xylobiohydrolase comprising an amino acid sequence with at least 90% identity to a sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1-13 or a portion thereof with xylobiohydrolase activity.
