There are provided, inter alia, compositions including a scintillator nanocrystal linked to a chemical agent moiety through a scintillator-activated photocleavable linker, and methods of use thereof.

A composition comprising a scintillator nanocrystal, wherein the scintillator nanocrystal comprises one or more of the following:
- (a) (Y1-xPrx)3Al5O12, where x is 0.0075, 0.01, 0.0125, 0.015, or 0.0175;
- (b) Ly:Pr—SiO2;
- (c) YAG;
- (d) YAG:Pr, wherein Pr is 1%, 1.25%, 1.5%, or 1.75%,
- (e) GYGAG:Pr(1%)Ga;
- (f) GYGAG:Pr(1%)Gd;
- or
- (g) YAG:Pr(1%)-SiO2.
