Abstract
A method of linking a point-of-sale register and a payment terminal into an integrated point-of-sale system includes entering at least one item into the point-of-sale register, calculating a total cost of the at least one item, receiving an image from the point-of-sale register at an integrating device, the integrating device having a processor and a video capture card, locating the total cost in the image by identifying a target area, performing optical character recognition on the target area, and outputting a numerical total to a payment terminal.

A method of linking a point-of-sale register and a payment terminal into an integrated point-of-sale system comprising:
- entering at least one item into the point-of-sale register;
- calculating a total cost of the at least one item;
- receiving an image from the point-of-sale register at an integrating device, the integrating device having a processor and a video capture card;
- locating the total cost in the image by identifying a target area;
- performing optical character recognition on the target area;
- and
- outputting a numerical total to a payment terminal.
An integrated point-of-sale system comprising:
- a point-of-sale register;
- an integrating device having a processor and a video capture card, the integrating device being in communication with the point-of-sale register to receive a real-time video feed from the point-of-sale register;
- a payment terminal configured and arranged to process credit cards, the payment terminal being in communication with the integrating device.
A method of linking a point-of-sale register and a payment terminal into an integrated point-of-sale system comprising:
- entering at least one item into the point-of-sale register;
- calculating a total cost of the at least one item;
- selecting an image from the point-of-sale register;
- locating the total cost in the image by identifying a target area;
- performing optical character recognition on the target area;
- and
- outputting a numerical total to a payment terminal.
