Composition and methods for inhibiting mammalian sterile 20-like kinase 1

A method of use in liver regeneration in a subject comprising administering to the subject a compound of Formula (I) having the structure:

• wherein:
• is a single or double bond;
• X is —O—;
• R1 and R2 are each independently C1-6alkyl;
• or R1 and R2 together with the nitrogen to which they are attached are combined to form a heterocycloalkyl ring;
• R3 is C1-6alkyl;
• each R4 is independently halogen, C1-6alkyl, C1-6alkoxy, C1-6haloalkyl, or —CN;
• R5 is aryl or heteroaryl, wherein aryl and heteroaryl are unsubstituted or substituted by one or more substituents selected from halogen, C1-6alkyl, C1-6alkoxy, C1-6haloalkyl, C1-6haloalkoxy, —OH, —CH2OH, —CN, —CO2R6, C3-6cycloalkyl, and phenyl;
• R6 is H or C1-6alkyl;
• n is 0, 1, 2, or 3;
• and
• p is 1, 2, or 3;
• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof.
