Abstract
A method of coiling a superconducting cable, where the superconducting cable is comprised of a plurality of stacked superconducting tapes, where the superconducting cable has a clocking feature that identifies an orientation of the superconducting tapes, the method comprising the step of orienting coils of the superconducting cable, such that a magnetic field from surrounding coils impinge upon a given coil at a desired angle, based upon an orientation of the clocking feature.

The method of claim 7, wherein the clocking feature is oriented such that the magnetic field impinges upon the wider face of the superconducting tapes of the successive coil.
A method of coiling a superconducting cable, where the superconducting cable is comprised of a plurality of stacked superconducting tapes each having a substantially rectangular cross-section with a wider face and a narrower face, where the superconducting cable has a visually-perceptible clocking feature running along a length of the superconducting cable that identifies an orientation of the superconducting tapes, the method comprising the step of twisting the superconducting cable as a successive coil is laid on a preceding coil, such that a magnetic field from the preceding coil impinges upon the successive coil at a desired angle, based upon an orientation of the clocking feature.
