Abstract
A system and method for fabricating canopies featuring extruded members coupled together with fasteners that are hidden and are retained by multiple tracks located in the extruded members. Prefabricated corners of extruded members allow fabricators to build the canopy on site by attaching straight members to form a canopy from the four prefabricated corners. Prefabricated facial members allow fabricators to quickly change the appearance of the assembled canopy or to retrofit pre-existing canopies.
Claims20
A canopy facial system, comprising:
- a facial member having at least one track;
- a gutter member connected to the at least one track;
- and
- a clip support member, having:
- a first edge;
- and
- a second edge;
- a plurality of fasteners;
- wherein the first edge and the second edge of the clip member are spaced apart by a length of material, the length of material corresponding to an attachment dimension of the facial member;
- wherein the first edge and the second edge each receive a fastener of the plurality of fasteners;
- and
- wherein the clip member and each fastener of the plurality of fasteners are hidden from view.
A facial system for extrusion based hidden fastener canopies, comprising:
- an extruded canopy support member having a facial surface;
- a facial member having at least one track, the facial member attached to the facial surface of the extruded canopy support member;
- a gutter cap member connected to the at least one track;
- and
- a clip member, having:
- a first edge;
- and
- a second edge;
- and
- a fastener;
- wherein the first edge and the second edge of the clip member are spaced apart by a length of material, the length of material corresponding to an attachment dimension of the facial member;
- wherein the facial surface and an edge of the clip member receive the fastener;
- and
- wherein the clip member and the fastener are hidden from view.
A method for assembly a canopy having hidden fasteners and a facial cap, comprising:
- providing a canopy or deck support member having a facial surface and a gutter portion;
- providing a facial cap member having at least one track;
- providing a gutter cap member;
- providing a clip support member, having a first edge and a second edge;
- wherein the first edge and the second edge of the clip member are spaced apart by a length of material, the length of material corresponding to an attachment dimension of the facial cap member;
- providing a plurality of fasteners;
- securing the clip support member to the canopy or deck support member with a first fastener of the plurality of fasteners;
- attaching the facial cap member to the facial surface;
- and
- connecting the gutter cap member to the gutter portion to overlap or be overlapped by the facial cap member;
- wherein the attachment of the facial cap member and the connecting of the gutter cap member uses at least a second fastener of the plurality of fasteners;
- and
- wherein the first fastener and the second fastener are hidden from view.
