## Abstract

Disclosed are a secondary battery and a method for manufacturing the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a secondary battery, including: an exterior material which includes a pouch film and a sealing portion formed at an outer side of the pouch film; and an electrode assembly which includes a plurality of electrode bodies laminated with a separator interposed therebetween and are packaged by the exterior material, wherein a pair of forming portions are formed within the pouch film to house the electrode assembly, and a predetermined interval is formed between the pair of forming portions.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of manufacturing a secondary battery, the method comprising:
preparing an exterior material comprising a pair of forming portions, a sealing portion, an interval disposed between the pair of forming portions, a first boundary between the interval and one of the forming portions and a second boundary between the interval and the other forming portion, wherein the first and second boundaries are facing each other;
providing electrode tabs connected to an electrode assembly through welding portions disposed outside of the forming portions; and
folding the exterior material over the electrode assembly using the first boundary and the second boundary to enclose the electrode assembly.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein an interior of the interval between the first boundary and the second boundary is not folded during the folding of the exterior material.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising sealing the sealing portion of the exterior material after folding the exterior material to form three sealed sides and one non-sealed side.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein at least one sealed side that does not face the non-sealed side is provided with the electrode tabs.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein both sealed sides that do not face the non-sealed side are provided with the electrode tabs.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein longitudinal intervals between the pair of forming portions and the sealing portion are a sum or more of the half (½) of a predetermined interval and a width of the welding portion.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein lateral intervals between the pair of forming portions and the sealing portion are a half (½) or more of a predetermined interval.

### Claim 8 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein a thickness of the electrode assembly is larger than a sum of depths of the forming portions.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising placing the electrode assembly on the external material before the folding of the external material, and wherein when placing the electrode assembly on the external material, a thickness of the electrode assembly is larger than a sum of depths of the forming portions.

### Claim 10

A method of manufacturing a secondary battery, the method comprising:
preparing an exterior material comprising a sealing portion, first and second forming portions having first and second depths, respectively, the first and second forming portions being spaced apart by an interval sharing a first boundary with the first forming portion and a second boundary with the second forming portion;
providing electrode tabs connected to an electrode assembly through welding portions;
folding the exterior material over the electrode assembly to enclose the electrode assembly; and
sealing the sealing portion to form three sealed sides and one non-sealed side, the non-sealed side including the interval,
wherein an interior of the interval between the first boundary and the second boundary is not folded during the folding of the exterior material, and
wherein at least one sealed side that does not face the non-sealed side is provided with the electrode tabs.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein both sealed sides that do not face the non-sealed side are provided with the electrode tabs.

### Claim 12 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein longitudinal intervals between the forming portions and the sealing portion are a sum or more of the half (½) of a predetermined interval and a width of the welding portion.

### Claim 13 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein lateral intervals between the forming portions and the sealing portion are a half (½) or more of a predetermined interval.

### Claim 14 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein a thickness of the electrode assembly is larger than a sum of depths of the forming portions.

### Claim 15 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, further comprising placing the electrode assembly on the external material before the folding of the external material, and wherein when placing the electrode assembly on the external material, a thickness of the electrode assembly is larger than a sum of a depth of the first forming portion and a depth of the second forming portion.

### Claim 16

A method of manufacturing a secondary battery, the method comprising:
preparing an exterior material comprising a pair of forming portions, a sealing portion, an interval disposed between the pair of forming portions, a first boundary between the interval and one of the forming portions and a second boundary between the interval and the other forming portion, wherein the first and second boundaries are facing each other;
providing electrode tabs connected to an electrode assembly through welding portions;
placing the electrode assembly on the external material before the folding of the external material, and wherein when placing the electrode assembly on the external material, a thickness of the electrode assembly is larger than a sum of a depth of the first forming portion and a depth of the second forming portion;
folding the exterior material over the electrode assembly using the first boundary and the second boundary to enclose the electrode assembly; and
sealing the sealing portion of the exterior material after folding the exterior material to form three sealed sides and one non-sealed side.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)
