## Abstract

An information processing apparatus includes a main unit including a first installer; an operation unit including a second installer; processing circuitry; and a memory storing computer-executable instructions that cause the processing circuitry to cause the second installer of the operation unit to acquire an application type of an application to be updated and to update the application based on the acquired application type.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An information processing apparatus comprising:
a main unit including a first installer;
an operation unit including a second installer;
processing circuitry; and
a memory storing computer-executable instructions that cause the processing circuitry to:
cause the second installer of the operation unit to acquire an application type of an application to be updated and to update the application based on the acquired application type.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry further
determines whether the acquired application type indicates a cooperative application in which an application in the main unit and an application in the operation unit operate in cooperation with each other, and
causes the second installer of the operation unit to update the application in the operation unit and causes the first installer of the main unit to update the application in the main unit, upon determining that the acquired application type indicates the cooperative application.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry further
determines whether the acquired application type indicates an independent application in which an application in the operation unit operates independently, and
causes the second installer of the operation unit to update the application in the operation unit, upon determining that the acquired application type indicates the independent application.

### Claim 4

A method executed by an information processing apparatus including a main unit and an operation unit, the method comprising:
acquiring an application type of an application to be updated; and
updating the application based on the acquired application type.

### Claim 5

A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing a program that causes a computer to execute a process performed by an installer included in an operation unit of an information processing apparatus including a main unit and the operation unit, the process comprising:
acquiring an application type of an application to be updated; and
updating the application based on the acquired application type.
