Abstract
The present invention relates to different embodiments of lighting fixtures, such as high bay lighting fixtures, comprising one or more improved features. Some of these features include the direct mounting of emitters on a heat sink and/or the use of a template-like board for providing an electrical connection between emitters. These features can improve heat dissipation from the emitters and simplify fabrication. In other embodiments, expensive lens optics of prior art SSL fixtures can be replaced with a flat lens and reflector in order to produce a fixture having a satisfactory spacing criterion.
Claims20
A lighting fixture, comprising:
- a heat sink comprising a mount area;
- at least one LED light emitter on the mount, wherein the heat sink comprises heat-dissipating surfaces extending radially away from the mount area to an outer portion of the heat sink;
- and
- a driver box radially offset from the outer portion of the heat sink for housing drive electronics to drive the at least one LED light emitter.
A lighting fixture, comprising::
- a heat sink;
- at least one LED light emitter on a mount area of the heat sink;
- a plurality of fins extending from an inner portion of the heat sink to an outer portion of the heat sink, wherein the plurality of fins are arranged in a circle defining a periphery that substantially surrounds the mount area;
- the plurality of fins comprising an inner level spoke and a plurality of outer level spokes, wherein at least two of the outer level spokes emanate from the inner level spoke;
- a driver box radially offset from the outer portion of the heat sink for housing drive electronics to drive the at least one LED light emitter;
- and
- a reflector mounted below the heat sink for receiving light from the at least one LED light emitter.
A lighting fixture, comprising:
- a heat sink comprising an inner level spoke;
- and a plurality of outer level spokes, wherein the inner level spoke joins at least two of said plurality of outer level spokes, wherein the inner level spoke and the plurality of outer level spokes define spaces having bottom openings and top openings;
- at least one LED light emitter thermally coupled to the heat sink;
- and
- an optical element mounted below the heat sink for receiving light from the at least one LED light emitter such that air flows outside of the optical element into the bottom openings, through the channels and out the top openings.
