## Abstract

Provided herein is a CD24 protein. The CD24 protein may include mature human or mouse CD24, as well as a N- or C-terminally fused portion of a mammalian immunoglobulin.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A CD24 protein comprising a mature human CD24 variant consisting of SEQ II) NO: 1.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The CD24 protein of claim 1, wherein the CD24 protein is soluble.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The CD24 protein of claim 1, wherein the CD24 protein is glycosylated.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The CD24 protein claim 1, wherein the CD24 protein further comprises a portion of a mammalian immunoglobulin (Ig), which is fused to the N-terminus or C-terminus of the mature CD24.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The CD24 protein of claim 4, wherein the Ig portion is the Fe portion of a human Ig protein.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The CD24 protein of claim 5, wherein the portion consists of the hinge region and CH2 and CH3 domains of the human Ig protein, and wherein the Ig is selected from the group consisting of IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, IgG4, and IgA.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The CD24 protein of claim 5, wherein the Fe portion consists of the hinge region and CH3 and CH4 domains of IgM.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The CD24 protein of claim 1, wherein the CD24 protein is produced using a eukaryotic protein expression system.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The CD24 protein of claim 8, wherein the expression system comprises a vector contained in a Chinese Hamster Ovary cell line or a replication-defective retroviral vector.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The CD24 protein of claim 9, wherein the replication-defective retroviral vector is stably integrated into the genome of a eukaryotic cell.
