## Abstract

A method for calculating an overlay of additional information for a display on a display unit, in particular, a head-up display of a transportation vehicle or data glasses. The overlay of additional information supports the driver in the longitudinal control of a transportation vehicle. The position of an upcoming waypoint is detected, which is specified by the navigation system. When the observer transportation vehicle approaches the waypoint, an animation graphic is calculated, wherein the animation graphic has a grid shape. The animation graphic is calculated so that distance markers are inserted from the observer transportation vehicle to the waypoint, which permit estimation of the distance to the waypoint.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for calculating an augmented reality superposition of additional information for a display included in a display unit, wherein the superposition of additional information assists a driver of an observer transportation vehicle with longitudinal control of the observer transportation vehicle, the method comprising:
calculating the superposition consistent with contact-analog augmented reality with respect to one or more objects in the environment of the observer transportation vehicle;
capturing a location of a waypoint along a navigation route by calculating an animation graphic which leads along the navigation route on approach to the waypoint and calculating the animation graphic such that distance marks are superimposed along the navigation route starting from the observer transportation vehicle up to the waypoint.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the animation graphic is calculated as a grid comprising a plurality of grid points, wherein the distance marks are represented as colored or shaped highlighting of grid points in the animation graphic.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the distance marks are superimposed at equidistant distances in front of the waypoint.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the distance marks are positioned in the animation graphic based on the instantaneous speed of the observer transportation vehicle and/or on the driving scenario to which the observer transportation vehicle is driving and/or on the vicinity in which the transportation vehicle is moving.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the distance marks are each composed of a plurality of grid points.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein the distance marks are composed of three grid points and symbolize an arrow in the driving direction.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the grid points are represented by unfilled grid symbols that are diamond shaped.

### Claim 8

An apparatus for calculating an augmented reality superposition of additional information for a display included in a display unit, wherein the superposition of additional information assists a driver of an observer transportation vehicle with longitudinal control of the observer transportation vehicle, the apparatus comprising:
the display unit with which virtual additional information is superposed into a field of view of the driver or of the operator of the apparatus; and
a computation unit configured to calculates a distance of the observer transportation vehicle relative to a waypoint,
wherein the the computation unit calculates an animation graphic, which leads along a navigation route at least up to the waypoint as the observer transportation vehicle approaches the waypoint,
wherein the animation graphic has a grid form comprising a plurality of grid points; and
wherein the computation unit calculates the animation graphic such that the computation unit has distance marks starting from the observer transportation vehicle up to the waypoint.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the animation graphic is calculated as a grid comprising a plurality of grid points, wherein the distance marks are represented as colored or shaped highlighting of grid points in the animation graphic.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the display unit is a head-up display (HUD) or smartglasses.

### Claim 11 (depends on 8)

A transportation vehicle, wherein the transportation vehicle comprises the apparatus of claim 8.

### Claim 12

A computer program, wherein the computer program includes instructions to perform the a method for calculating an augmented reality superposition of additional information for a display on a display unit in response to being executed in a computation unit, wherein the method comprises:
calculating the superposition consistent with contact-analog augmented reality with respect to one or more objects in the environment of the observer transportation vehicle;
capturing a location of a waypoint along a navigation route by calculating an animation graphic which leads along the navigation route on approach to the waypoint and calculating the animation graphic such that distance marks are superimposed along the navigation route starting from the observer transportation vehicle up to the waypoint.
