A method for determining the amount of thiamine in a sample, comprising:
- (i) purifying thiamine from the sample by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC);
- (iii) ionizing the purified thiamine by electrospray ionization (ESI);
- (iv) determining the amount of thiamine by mass spectrometry, wherein the amount of total thiamine in the sample is determined.
