Abstract
Methods and apparatus for controlling signal measurements in a wireless device with receiver beamforming capability. In an embodiment, the method is performed by a wireless device and includes providing a first indication to a radio node of how the wireless device performs or will perform receiver beamforming, and performing receiver beamforming as part of a signal measurement procedure in accordance with the first indication of how the wireless device performs or will perform receiver beamforming.
Claims24
A method for controlling signal measurements in a wireless device with receiver beamforming capability, the method being performed by the wireless device and comprising:
- providing an indication to a radio node of a first measurement requirement the wireless device is able to meet, the first measurement requirement being determined based on how the wireless device performs or will perform receiver beamforming;
- and
- performing receiver beamforming as part of a signal measurement procedure in accordance with the indication of the first measurement requirement.

The method of claim 20, further comprising configuring a procedure performed by the radio access node in accordance with the determined measurement requirement.
The method of claim 20, wherein configuring the wireless device includes configuring the wireless device to disable any receive beam sweeping or applying a number of receive beam sweeps not exceeding a threshold while performing a certain type of measurement.
A wireless device for operation in a wireless communication network, the wireless device comprising:
- processing circuitry configured to:
- provide an indication to a radio node of a first measurement requirement the wireless device is able to meet, the first measurement requirement being determined based on how the wireless device performs or will perform receiver beamforming;
- and
- perform receiver beamforming as part of a signal measurement procedure in accordance with the indication of the first measurement requirement;
- and
- communication circuitry configured to transmit/receive transmissions to/from one or more radio access nodes in the wireless communication network.
A radio access node for operation in a wireless communication network, the radio access node comprising:
- processing circuitry configured to:
- receive an indication from a wireless device of a measurement requirement the wireless device is able to meet, wherein the measurement requirement is based on how the wireless device performs or will perform receiver beamforming, and wherein the receiver beamforming is performed in accordance with the indication of the measurement requirement;
- determine a measurement requirement for the wireless device to meet as part of a signal measurement procedure based on the indication;
- and
- configure the wireless device to perform the signal measurement procedure adaptively in accordance with the determined measurement requirement;
- and
- communication circuitry configured to transmit/receive transmissions to/from one or more wireless devices in the wireless communication network.

A method for controlling signal measurements in a wireless device with receiver beamforming capability, the method being performed by a radio access node and comprising:
- receiving an indication from the wireless device of a measurement requirement the wireless device is able to meet, wherein the measurement requirement is based on how the wireless device performs or will perform receiver beamforming, and wherein the receiver beamforming is performed in accordance with the indication of the measurement requirement;
- determining a measurement requirement for the wireless device to meet as part of a signal measurement procedure based on the indication;
- and
- configuring the wireless device to perform the signal measurement procedure adaptively in accordance with the determined measurement requirement.
