Method and System for the 3D Design and Calibration of 2D Substrates

A system comprising:

• a computing system with a processing unit;
• a three-dimensional (3D) scanning module that is configured to scan an object or entity;
• a 3D CAD module, said 3D CAD module is configured to provide at least one of a three-dimensional (3D) image model and a 3D mesh model from said scanned object or entity;
• a rescaling module, said rescaling module is configured to rescale at least one of said three-dimensional (3D) image model and 3D mesh model;
• a calibration module, said calibration module is configured to retopologize at least one of said three-dimensional (3D) image model and 3D mesh model, wherein said retopologized three-dimensional (3D) image model or 3D mesh model comprises significantly the same volume and shape but with at least one of a different mesh layout and a reduced polygon count;
• a 3D to 2D translation conversion module that is configured to apply an AI-based UV mapping process to at least one of said retopologized three-dimensional (3D) image model and 3D mesh model, where “U” and “V” of said UV are a two-dimensional (2D) axes of a UVW coordinate plane;
• wherein said AI-based UV mapping process comprises extracting at least one of, a UV map and 2D image from at least one of said retopologized three-dimensional (3D) image model and 3D mesh model in said UVW coordinate plane;
• said UV mapping process further comprises projecting or wrapping said UV map or 2D image to at least one of said three-dimensional (3D) image model and 3D mesh model;
• and
• said 3D to 2D translation module is further configured to unwrap at least one of said three-dimensional (3D) image model and 3D mesh model and convert said at least one of said unwrapped three-dimensional (3D) image model and 3D mesh model into a two-dimensional (2D) graphics, vinyl wrap, tattoo stencil, sublimation painting, clothing, printing, plotting, cutting, or embroidery file format.

A system comprising:

• means for 3D scanning an object or entity;
• means for providing at least one of, a three-dimensional (3D) image model and a three-dimensional (3D) mesh model from said 3D scanned object or entity;
• means for rescaling at least one of, said three-dimensional (3D) image model and three-dimensional (3D) mesh model;
• means for calibrating at least one of, said three-dimensional (3D) image model and three-dimensional (3D) mesh model;
• means for retopologizing at least one of, said three-dimensional (3D) image model and three-dimensional (3D) mesh model, said retopologizing means comprises rebuilding at least one of, a 3D mesh model copy having the same volume and shape but with a different mesh layout and reduced polygon count;
• wherein said retopologizing means comprises an AI-based retopologizing means;
• means for extracting at least one of, a UV map and 2D image from said 3D mesh model copy;
• means for wrapping said extracted UV map or 2D image to at least one of, said three-dimensional (3D) image model and three-dimensional (3D) mesh model;
• means for unwrapping at least one of, said three-dimensional (3D) image model and three-dimensional (3D) mesh model;
• means for converting at least one of said unwrapped three-dimensional (3D) image model and three-dimensional (3D) mesh model into a two-dimensional (2D) graphics, vinyl wrap, tattoo stencil, sublimation painting, clothing, printing, plotting, cutting, or embroidery file format;
• means for printing, plotting, cutting, or embroidering said two-dimensional (2D) graphics, vinyl wrap, tattoo stencil, sublimation painting, clothing, printing, plotting, cutting, or embroidery file format;
• and
• means for providing a printed, plotted, templated, stenciled, sublimation painted, or embroidered 2D graphics, vinyl wrap, tattoo stencil, sublimation painting, clothing, printing, plotting, cutting, or embroidery file format.
