Image forming apparatus, method for controlling image forming apparatus, and storage medium

An image forming apparatus having at least a first power state and a second power state in which power consumption is smaller than power consumption in the first power state, the image forming apparatus comprising:

• a human sensor;
• an operation unit which receives an operation by a user;
• and
• a controller which, in response to a predetermined time having elapsed without the operation unit being operated in the first power state, shifts a state of the image forming apparatus from the first power state to the second power state;
• wherein the controller, in response to the operation unit not having been being operated since the image forming apparatus has returned from the second power state to the first power state based on a result of a detection performed by the human sensor, and the human sensor becoming in a non-detection state, further shifts the state of the image forming apparatus from the first power state to the second power state.
