Described herein are quinoline compounds useful for, among other things, inhibition of the proteasome and for treatment of cancer and inflammation.

A compound of the formula II:
- wherein:
- R6 is hydrogen, alkyl or aryl;
- R7 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, cycloheteroalkyl or alkoxy;
- R8 is hydrogen, halogen, or alkyl;
- R9 is hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, alkyl, alkoxy, aminoalkyl or heterocyclyl;
- and
- R10 is hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl, or lower alkoxy.
