A method for inducing hair growth in a subject comprising administering a population of stem cell-derived dermal papillae-like cells to the subject,
- wherein the population of stem cell-derived dermal papillae-like cells were obtained via:
- differentiation of a population of stem cell-derived neural crest cells into a population of stem cell-derived dermal papillae-like cells by a process comprising selecting adherent cells from the population of stem cell-derived neural crest cells, wherein the population of stem cell-derived neural crest cells lack a marker selected from the group consisting of versican, smooth muscle actin, and alkaline phosphatase,
- thereby inducing hair growth in the subject.
An isolated induced dermal papillae cell wherein the induced dermal papillae cell is generated from a human induced pluripotent stem cell.
A method for screening an agent to modulate hair growth comprising:
- contacting a population of induced dermal papillae cells with a test agent;
- and measuring an effect on hair growth in the population of induced dermal papillae cells.
