Abstract
Many Gram-negative pathogens assemble adhesive pili structures on their surfaces that allow them to colonize host tissues and cause disease. The present invention relates to novel compounds that disrupt the intramolecular interactions of the pilus subunits thereby reducing pilus assembly.
Claims19
A method of treating or preventing a bacterial infection in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a composition comprising a compound that prevents or inhibits the interaction between an usher protein's amino-terminal periplasmic domain (NTD) and carboxy-terminal periplasmic domain 2 (CTD2).
