Abstract
A compound, composition, or method for treating cancer is disclosed. The compound (that can be used in the composition and/or method) can include or pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates thereof. R1a-R1d, R2-R3 (and R4 where applicable), and A---B can be as defined herein.

A compound according to formula (Ia):
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable sgalt or solvate thereof,
- wherein:
- R1a is selected from CH2CH═C(CH3)2, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHCH(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R1b is selected from, H, OH, OR4, CH2CH═C(CH3)2, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHCH(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R1c is selected from H, OH, OR4a, CH2CH═C(CH3)2, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHCH(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R1d is selected from H, OH, CH2CH═C(CH3)2, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHCH(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- wherein at least one of R1b-1d is OH and at least one of R1a-1d is CH2CH═C(CH3)2, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHCH(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R2 is selected from OH, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R3 is selected from OH, OR4, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R4 is selected from, methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, isobutyl, t-butyl or benzyl;
- and A----B is selected from CH═CH, CH2CH2CH2, CH═CHX, or CH2—CH2X, where X═(CH2)pCH2 and p is an integer selected from the group consisting of 1 or 2,
- wherein the compound originates from propolis of the Lepidosperma genus.
