Abstract
Described herein are compounds for and methods of treating conditions or diseases in a subject by administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition containing an effective amount of an α-adrenergic modulator. The compounds and methods are also useful for alleviating types of pain, acute, neuropathic and chronic.

A method of treating a condition or disease alleviated by activation of α-adrenergic receptors in a mammal, the method comprising administering to the mammal in need of such treatment a pharmaceutically effective dose of N-(2,3-dichlorobenzyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-amine having the following structure:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound having the structure:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or imine tautomer thereof.
