## Abstract

Systems and methods for presenting ranked search results on an interactive graphical user interface based on a semantic matching platform that is configured to apply an ontology are disclosed. In one aspect, a computer system comprising one or more computer readable storage devices configured to store a plurality of computer-executable instructions, a semantic matching platform, one or more network communication systems, and one or more hardware computer processors in communication with the one or more computer readable storage devices to execute the plurality of computer-executable instructions to cause the system to receiving search criteria from a user device, parse the search criteria, determine and rank matched search results, and generating instructions for presentation of a portion of the ranked search results on an interactive graphical user interface configured to be displayed on the user device.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A system for presenting ranked search results on an interactive graphical user interface based on a semantic matching platform that is configured to apply an ontology, the system comprising:
one or more computer readable storage devices configured to store a plurality of computer-executable instructions;
a semantic matching platform;
one or more network communication systems; and
one or more hardware computer processors in communication with the one or more computer readable storage devices to execute the plurality of computer-executable instructions to cause the system to:
generate and transmit, to a first user device via the one or more network communication systems, display instruction for display of an interactive graphical user interface (GUI) comprising a search query region configured to receive a search criteria;
receive, from the first user device via the one or more network communication systems, search criteria associated with an intent of a first user;
parse, with the semantic matching platform, the search criteria into one or more standardized classes, wherein the semantic matching platform is configured to apply an ontology to determine the one or more standardized classes;
determine, with the semantic matching platform, an approximation of the intent of the first user based at least in part on the one or more standardized classes, wherein the semantic matching platform is configured to apply an abstraction process to identify at least one of similarities, intersections, or relations between two or more possible intents;
determine and rank a set of matched results by searching the one or more computer readable storage devices, wherein the searching is based at least in part on the approximation of the intent of the first user; and
generate and transmit, to the first user device via the one or more network communication systems, updated display instruction for display of an updated interactive GUI, wherein the updated interactive GUI is configured to present at least one search result that includes a portion of the ranked set of matched results, wherein the portion of the ranked set of matched results includes one or more of highest ranked matched results that are determined to be the most relevant to the first user based at least in part on the approximation of the intent of the first user.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the portion of the ranked set of matched results includes the highest ranked matched result.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the updated interactive GUI is further configured to present the portion of the ranked set of matched results in a position of the updated interactive GUI based on the ranking of the portion of the ranked set of matched results.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the updated interactive GUI is further configured to present the highest ranked matched result in a position on the updated interactive GUI based on the ranking of the portion of the ranked set of matched results.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the intent of the first user includes an indication of a desire to engage in an activity.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the search criteria are free-form and comprises one or more words.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the classes include one or more of: a category, an agenda verb, an object, a verb interrogative, an object interrogative, a detail interrogative, or a location.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the ranking is based at least in part on one or more of: usage of an activity, location of an activity, time of an activity, or properties with respect to the approximation of the intent.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the intent of the first user comprises at least one or more of: a desired transaction, an articulated demand, a proposal to provide information, goods, or services, a request for advice, or a search query.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the search results are configured to be selectable by the first user.

### Claim 11

A method for presenting ranked search results on an interactive graphical user interface based on a semantic matching platform that is configured to apply an ontology, the method comprising:
generate and transmit, to a first user device via one or more network communication systems, display instruction for display of an interactive graphical user interface (GUI) comprising a search query region configured to receive a search criteria;
receive, from the first user device via the one or more network communication systems, search criteria associated with an intent of a first user;
parse, with a semantic matching platform, the search criteria into one or more standardized classes, wherein the semantic matching platform is configured to apply an ontology to determine the one or more standardized classes;
determine, with the semantic matching platform, an approximation of the intent of the first user based at least in part on the one or more standardized classes, wherein the semantic matching platform is configured to apply an abstraction process to identify at least one of similarities, intersections, or relations between two or more possible intents;
determine and rank a set of matched results by searching one or more computer readable storage devices, wherein the searching is based at least in part on the approximation of the intent of the first user; and
generate and transmit, to the first user device via the one or more network communication systems, updated display instruction for display of an updated interactive GUI, wherein the updated interactive GUI is configured to present at least one search result that includes a portion of the ranked set of matched results, wherein the portion of the ranked set of matched results includes one or more of highest ranked matched results that are determined to be the most relevant to the first user based at least in part on the approximation of the intent of the first user.
