Abstract
A three-dimensional (3D) measuring system that includes an external projector and an imager device. The imager device having a projector, a first camera and a second camera. The system further having one or more processors operably coupled to the display, the projector, the first camera and the second camera. The processors are responsive to executable computer instructions when executed on the one or more processors for projecting one or more random patterns on an object, recording one or more stereo images of the object, estimating a position and orientation of an imager device and registering scan data generated from the estimated position and orientation of the imager device into a coordinate system.
Claims20
A three-dimensional (3D) measuring system comprising:
- an external projector;
- an imager device having a projector and one or more cameras arranged in a predetermined geometric relationship, the one or more cameras having a photosensitive array with a plurality of pixels that transmit a signal in response to a wavelength of light, the projector projecting a pattern of light that includes at least one element at the wavelength of light;
- and
- one or more processors operably coupled to the external projector, the projector and the one or more cameras, wherein the one or more processors are responsive to executable computer instructions when executed on the one or more processors for:
- projecting one or more random patterns on an object with the external projector;
- recording one or more images of the object;
- estimating a position and orientation of the imager device;
- and
- registering scan data generated from the estimated position and orientation of the imager device into a coordinate system.
A method of scan data registration, the method comprising:
- projecting one or more random patterns on an object;
- recording one or more stereo images of the object;
- estimating a position and orientation of an imager device;
- and
- registering scan data generated from the estimated position and orientation of the imager device into a coordinate system.
