Liquid crystal display

A liquid crystal display comprising:

• a first substrate;
• a data line extending in a first direction on the first substrate;
• a gate line extending in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction on the first substrate;
• a thin film transistor connected to the data line and the gate line;
• a common electrode arranged over the data line and the gate line;
• an insulating layer on the common electrode;
• a pixel electrode on the insulating layer including:
• a connection pixel electrode extending along the data line on the insulating layer,
• a wide projection pixel electrode connected to the connection pixel electrode at one end of the connection pixel electrode, and
• a plurality of projection pixel electrode connected to the connection pixel electrode at an end of each of the projection pixel electrodes;
• a second substrate facing the first substrate;
• a black matrix on the second substrate including:
• a first black matrix arranged over the gate line, and
• a second black matrix arranged over the data line;
• and
• a liquid crystal layer sandwiches between the first substrate and the second substrate,
• wherein the first black matrix overlaps the wide projection pixel electrode, and
• the second black matrix overlaps the connection pixel electrode, and
• a length of the connection pixel electrode is longer than a length of the wide projection pixel electrode and a length of each of the projection pixel electrodes.
