Abstract
The invention provides compounds of Formula (I) as described herein, along with pharmaceutically acceptable salts, pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds, and methods to use these compounds, salts and compositions for treating viral infections, particularly infections caused by hepatitis B virus, and reducing the occurrence of serious conditions associated with HBV.
Claims10
A compound of formula (I):
- wherein:
- R1 is H or halo;
- R2 is independently selected at each occurrence from halo, CN, C1-C3 haloalkyl, C1-C3 haloalkoxy, —OR3, —N(R)R3, and C1-C3 alkyl optionally substituted with up to three groups selected from R3, —N(R)R3, CN, —OH, —CONR2, —COOR, and —OR3;
- R3 is a C1-C4 alkyl that is optionally substituted with one to three groups selected from halo, C1-C3 haloalkyl, —OH, C1-C3 alkoxy, C1-C3 haloalkoxy, oxo, CN, —NH2, —NH(C1-C3 alkyl), —N(C1-C3 alkyl)2, —COOR, —CONR2, C3-C5 cycloalkyl, and a 4-6 membered cyclic ether, wherein the C3-C5 cycloalkyl and 4-6 membered cyclic ether are each optionally substituted with one or two groups selected from halo, —OH, C1-C3 alkoxy, and C1-C3 alkyl;
- or R3 is a C3-C5 cycloalkyl ring or 4-6 membered cyclic ether, wherein the C3-C5 cycloalkyl ring or 4-6 membered cyclic ether are each optionally substituted with one to three groups selected from halo, C1-C3 alkyl, —OH, C1-C3 alkoxy, C1-C3 haloalkoxy, C1-C3 haloalkyl, —NH2, —NH(C1-C3 alkyl), and —N(C1-C3 alkyl)2;
- n is 0, 1, or 2;
- W is —COOR4, —C(O)NH-—SO2R5, —C(O)NH—SO2NR2, 5-tetrazolyl, or 1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl-5 (4H)-one;
- R4 is H or C1-C6 alkyl that is optionally substituted with one to three groups selected from halo, —OR, oxo, CN, and —NR2;
- R5 is C1-C6 alkyl that is optionally substituted with one to three groups selected from halo, —OR, oxo, CN, and —NR2;
- R6 is H or C1-C6 alkyl;
- R7 is H or C1-C6 alkyl,
- or R7 taken together with R9 and the atoms connecting R7 with R9 forms a ring as described below;
- R8 is H or C1-C6 alkyl;
- R9 is selected from:
- (1) H;
- (2) C1-C6 alkyl optionally substituted with up to three groups selected from C3-C6 cycloalkyl, —OR, —NR2, halo, CN, COOR, CONR2, and oxo;
- and
- (3) a ring selected from (a) C3-C6 cycloalkyl, (b) phenyl, (c) 5-6 membered heterocyclyl containing one or two heteroatoms selected from N, O and S as ring members, and (d) 5-6 membered heteroaryl containing one or two heteroatoms selected from N, O and S as ring members, wherein each of rings (a) through (d) is optionally substituted with up to three groups selected from C1-C2 alkyl, (CH2)0-2—OR, —NR2, halo, CN, COOR, and CONR2;
- or R9 taken together with R7 and the atoms connecting R9 with R7 forms a 3-7 membered cycloalkyl ring, or a 3-7 membered heterocyclic ring containing N, O or S as a ring member;
- wherein the cycloalkyl or heterocyclic ring is optionally substituted with up to three groups selected from R, —OR, —NR2, halo, CN, COOR, CONR2, and oxo;
- R is independently selected at each occurrence from H and C1-C3 alkyl optionally substituted with one to three groups selected from halo, —OH, C1-C3 alkoxy, oxo, CN, —NH2, —NH(C1-C3 alkyl), —N(C1-C3 alkyl)2, and cyclopropyl;
- and two R groups directly attached to the same atom can optionally be taken together with the atom to which both are attached to form a 3-6 membered ring that can optionally contain a heteroatom selected from N, O and S as a ring member, and can be substituted by up to two groups selected from —OH, oxo, C1-C3 alkyl, and C1-C3 alkoxy;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
