Abstract
A process for the hydrogenation or hydrogenolysis of an oxygenate is disclosed. The process takes place in a reactor in the presence of a catalyst, hydrogen and liquid water and the catalyst comprises one or more elements from Groups 8 to 11 of the periodic table dispersed on a hydrothermally stable oxide support.
Claims10
A process for the hydrogenation or hydrogenolysis of an oxygenate in a reactor in the presence of a catalyst, hydrogen and liquid water, wherein the catalyst comprises one or more elements from Groups 8 to 11 of the periodic table dispersed on an oxide support, and wherein the oxide support is either:
- a) titania or zirconia, doped with from 1 to 50% of another element;
- or
- b) a mixed metal oxide comprising at least 40% titania and at least 40% zirconia.
