Abstract
Provided herein are devices, systems, and methods for analysis of objects, such as cells. The devices, systems, and methods organize a plurality of objects in a plurality of partitions by trapping an object in a trap and transferring the object to an adjacent partition. The devices, systems, and methods provide for parallel analysis of a plurality of objects.

A method comprising:
- a) capturing a first set of one or more objects in one or more hydrodynamic traps, wherein the one or more hydrodynamic traps are formed within a microfluidic device;
- and
- b) selectively or collectively transferring at least a subset of the first set of one or more objects from the one or more hydrodynamic traps into one or more partitions using a non-fluidic transfer mechanism selected from the group consisting of a magnetic transfer mechanism, an acoustic transfer mechanism, and any combination thereof, wherein the one or more partitions are adjacent to the one or more hydrodynamic traps and are also formed within the microfluidic device.
A microfluidic device comprising:
- a) a fluidic path configured to receive a plurality of objects;
- b) at least one hydrodynamic trap positioned adjacent to the fluidic path and configured to capture an object of the plurality of objects;
- c) at least one partition positioned adjacent to the at least one hydrodynamic trap;
- and
- d) at least one structural feature configured to enable a non-fluidic transfer mechanism selected from the group consisting of a magnetic mechanism, an acoustic mechanism, and any combination thereof, wherein the non-fluidic transfer mechanism transfers an object between the at least one trap and the at least one partition.

A system for organizing a plurality of objects in a microfluidic device, the system comprising:
- a) a control module;
- and
- b) a microfluidic device comprising:
- a plurality of fluidic paths;
- a plurality of hydrodynamic traps, wherein each hydrodynamic trap is adjacent to at least one path and is configured for capturing an object;
- a plurality of partitions, wherein each partition is adjacent to at least one hydrodynamic trap;
- and
- wherein the microfluidic device is configured to support a plurality of non-fluidic transfer mechanisms selected from the group consisting of a magnetic transfer mechanism, an acoustic transfer mechanism, and any combination thereof;
- wherein the control module utilizes one or more of the plurality of non-fluidic transfer mechanisms to direct the selective transfer of at least one object between at least one hydrodynamic trap and at least one partition, or to direct a collective transfer of at least a subset of a plurality of objects between at least a subset of the plurality of hydrodynamic traps and at least a subset of the plurality of partitions.
