Abstract
A headphone system includes headphones including a right-side earpiece including a right-side audio driver and a left-side earpiece including a left-side audio driver. The headphone system further includes a sensor to provide a sensor signal indicative of one of an aspect of movement of a user wearing the headphones or a value of a physiological parameter of the user; a controller configured to output an audio signal via the headphones, and a detection circuit configured to receive the sensor signal and to provide feedback based on the one of the aspect of movement of the user or the value of the physiological parameter, the feedback including a location of a source of the audio signal perceived by the user.
Claims20
A headphone system, comprising:
- headphones including:
- a right-side earpiece including a right-side audio driver;
- and
- a left-side earpiece including a left-side audio driver;
- a sensor to provide a sensor signal indicative of one of an aspect of movement of a user wearing the headphones or a value of a physiological parameter of the user;
- a controller configured to output an audio signal via the headphones and to distinguish between a turning of a head of a user wearing the headphones versus turning of a body of the user;
- and
- a detection circuit configured to receive the sensor signal and to provide feedback based on the one of the aspect of movement of the user or the value of the physiological parameter, the feedback including a location of a source of the audio signal perceived by the user, the location of the source of the audio signal determined in part by the distinguishing between the turning of the head of the user versus the turning of the body of the user.
A method of providing feedback to a user of headphones, the method comprising:
- receiving an audio signal to be converted to an acoustic signal;
- receiving a sensor signal indicative of one of an aspect of the user's movement or a value of a physiological parameter of the user;
- analyzing the sensor signal to detect the one of the aspect of the user's movement or the value of the physiological parameter and to distinguish between a turning of a head of the user wearing the headphones versus turning of a body of the user;
- and
- providing feedback based upon the one of the aspect of the user's movement or the value of the physiological parameter, the feedback including a location of a source of the audio signal perceived by the user, the location of the source of the audio signal determined in part by the distinguishing between the turning of the head of the user versus the turning of the body of the user.
