Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for encoding and decoding an image. The method for decoding an image includes: deriving an initial motion vector from a merge candidate list of a current block; deriving a refined motion vector using the initial motion vector; and generating a prediction block of the current block using the refined motion vector.
Claims14
A method for decoding an image, the method comprising:
- deriving an initial motion vector from a merge candidate list of a current block;
- deriving a refined motion vector using the initial motion vector:
- and
- generating a prediction block of the current block using the refined motion vector,
- wherein the initial motion vector is derived from a merge candidate indicated by initial motion vector index information.
The method of claim 41, further comprising:
- obtaining merge mode usage information;
- and
- obtaining merge mode based motion vector refine usage information based on the merge mode usage information.

An apparatus comprising:
- a non-transitory computer readable recording medium storing a bitstream decoded by an image decoder, the bitstream including initial motion vector index information;
- the initial motion vector index information is used to indicate an initial motion vector sin a merge candidate list of a current block;
- and
- the initial motion vector is used to derive the relined motion vector.
