A method of treating an aqueous fluid that contains one or more types of bacteria, said method comprising passing said aqueous fluid over, through or by an antimicrobial solid that comprises a hydrophilic crosslinked polymer network that is an amorphous, spongy solid which comprises some pores having diameters of at least 10 μm, some pores having diameters of less than about 0.85 μm and one or more ionic surfactants entrained therein.
A process for treating an aqueous fluid that contains one or more types of bacteria, said method comprising passing said aqueous fluid over, through or by an article that comprises an antimicrobial solid which comprises a hydrophilic crosslinked polymer network that is an amorphous, spongy solid, said solid comprising some pores having diameters of at least 10 μm, some pores having diameters of less than about 0.85 μm and one or more ionic surfactants entrained therein.
A method for treating an aqueous fluid that contains one or more types of bacteria, said method comprising passing said aqueous fluid over, through or by an antimicrobial solid that comprises a hydrophilic crosslinked polymer network which comprises one or more polyelectrolytes and which is an amorphous, spongy solid, said solid comprising some pores having diameters of at least 10 μm, some pores having diameters of less than about 0.85 μm and one or more ionic surfactants entrained therein, wherein at least some of said pores are connected by tortuous paths.
