Abstract
A therapeutic treatment system has a delivery device is adapted to deliver a cooled breathing gas mixture to a patient and an injection device positioned near a distal end of the delivery device. The injection device is coupled to a source of liquid. The treatment system also includes a control system coupled to the delivery device and the injection device. Alternatively, the control system is adapted to control the injection device to release a fluid into the cooled breathing gas mixture to form a frozen mist of fine ice particles in the cooled breathing gas mixture.

(canceled)
A therapeutic system comprising:
- an endotracheal tube having an inlet end and an outlet end, said endotracheal tube configured to deliver a breathing gas to a patient;
- a ventilator coupled to a source of breathing gas, said ventilator configured to deliver the breathing gas to the inlet end of the endotracheal tube;
- a source of ice particles configured to be located externally of the patient;
- an ice line configured to deliver ice particles from the ice source to the outlet end of the endotracheal tube;
- and
- a controller coupled to the ventilator and the ice source to control delivery of ice particles and breathing gas to the endotracheal tube.
