Abstract
Microorganisms and methods are provided for producing biomass that includes PHB and protein in weight ratios and polymer lengths that are beneficial in feed and nutritional supplement compositions. The compositions also may be used for improvement in feed compositions that improve survivability of livestock and aquaculture species.
Claims42
A non-naturally occurring microorganism that produces about 1% to about 99.9% less of a polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) product by weight and about 1% to about 250% more protein by weight than the parent microorganism from which the non-naturally occurring microorganism is derived.
-23. (canceled)
A method for producing biomass, comprising culturing a microorganism that produces PHA in a culture medium under conditions suitable for growth of the microorganism, wherein the culture conditions result in biomass comprising PHA:protein in a weight ratio of about 1:1000 to about 2:1.
