Techniques for associating interaction data with video content

A computing device for associating metadata with media content, comprising:

• a memory storing one or more parameters or instructions for associating the metadata with the media content;
• and
• at least one processor coupled to the memory, wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
• obtain, from a remote source, the media content for rendering in a media player;
• obtain, based on obtaining the media content, the metadata related to the media content including an indication of a question related to the media content and a timestamp associated with the media content to which the question applies;
• render the media content within the media player;
• and
• display, by the media player and while rendering the media content, an indicator of the timestamp related to displaying the question.

A computer-implemented method for obtaining and rendering media content by a computing device, comprising:

• receiving, from a first media player, metadata, including a timestamp and a question, to be associated with the media content;
• receiving, from a second media player, a request for the media content;
• and
• providing the media content and the metadata to the second media player for displaying the question in relation to the timestamp while rendering the media content.
