Abstract
A method of decoding JVET video that includes receiving a bitstream indicating how a coding tree unit was partitioned into coding units, and parsing said bitstream to generate at least one predictor based on an intra prediction mode signaled in the bitstream, the intra prediction mode selected from a plurality of intra prediction modes for calculating a prediction pixel P[x,y] at coordinate x,y for the coding unit. A number of intra prediction modes available for coding the coding unit are reduced by replacing two or more non-weighted intra prediction modes by a weighted intra prediction mode.
Claims5
An apparatus for coding video data comprising one or more processors configured to:
- receive a bitstream indicating how a coding tree unit was partitioned into coding units according to a partitioning structure that allows nodes to be split according to a partitioning technique;
- parsing said bitstream to generate at least one predictor based on an intra prediction mode signaled in the bitstream, the intra prediction mode selected from a plurality of intra prediction modes for calculating a prediction pixel P[x,y] at coordinate x,y for the coding unit;
- wherein the prediction pixel is calculated using a plurality of reconstructed pixel values, each reconstructed pixel value having an associated weight based on a location of the prediction pixel in a respectively different coordinate axis.
A method of intra prediction coding of a JVET bitstream, the method comprising:
- receive a bitstream indicating how a coding tree unit was partitioned into coding units according to a partitioning structure that allows nodes to be split according to a partitioning technique;
- select a coding unit for coding;
- calculating a prediction pixel P[x,y] at coordinate x,y for the coding unit wherein the prediction pixel is calculated using a plurality of reconstructed pixel values, each reconstructed pixel value having an associated weight based on a location of the prediction pixel in a respectively different coordinate axis;
- and
- using the prediction pixel to code the coding unit.
