Abstract
A method and system that include techniques for an offload controller that controls functionality of a programmable switch. The offload controller may handle hash management and/or hash collision resolution for the programmable switch. The offload controller may additionally or alternatively configure the programmable switch to forward packets directly to a virtual private cloud (VPC) and/or virtual machine (VM), bypassing a gateway in some instances.

A system comprising:
- an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC);
- a first memory associated with the ASIC, the first memory storing a connection table and first instructions that, when executed, cause the ASIC to:
- receive a first ingress packet;
- determine that the first ingress packet comprises a synchronization message;
- determine that a first digest of first connection data associated with the first ingress packet matches a first entry in the connection table;
- and
- forward the first ingress packet to an offload controller, based at least in part on determining that the first ingress packet comprises the synchronization message and that the data associated with the first ingress packet matches the first entry.

A system comprising a switch and an offload controller, the offload controller comprising:
- one or more processors;
- a first memory having stored thereon instructions that, when executed, cause the offload controller to:
- receive routing information associated with a packet relayed between customer equipment and a virtual private cloud (VPC);
- insert, as a first key-value digest associated with the routing information, the entry into a complete table;
- and
- transmit, to the switch, a first instruction to insert the first key-value digest into a connection table stored in memory accessible to the switch.

- storing, at an offload controller, routing information associated with active connections multiple different tenants and multiple different virtual private clouds (VPCs);
- controlling, by the offload controller, a switch to forward network traffic via a slow-path or a fast-path, wherein the fast-path bypasses a gateway, wherein the controlling comprises:
- transmitting, from the offload controller to the switch, an instruction to store a subset of the routing information and to forward traffic via the slow-path or the fast-path based at least in part on the routing information.
