1-18. (canceled)
The caspase-inhibitor compound comprising:
- a caspase inhibitor covalently linked by a disulfide bond to a cell-penetrating peptide;
- wherein the caspase inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of:
- (i) a caspase-6 dominant negative (C6DN), (ii) a BIR3 domain of XIAP (XBIR3), and (iii) a peptide that is capable of apoptotic target inhibition and has at least 70% amino acid sequence identity with either a C6DN or a XBIR3;
- and
- the cell-penetrating peptide is cable of mediating cell penetration and has at least 70% amino acid sequence identity with a penetratin-1.
