Abstract
The present invention provides controlled release dosage formulations of compounds having the Formula: or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and in particular, aplindore. The dosage forms are useful, inter alia, for reducing side effects from administration of such compounds.

A controlled release oral dosage formulation comprising aplindore or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
- and one or more release-rate controlling polymers or other release-retarding materials selected from high viscosity matrix forming hydroxypropyl methyl celluloses, low viscosity matrix forming hydroxypropyl methyl celluloses or combinations thereof wherein said compound or said salt is released at a rate effective to provide a Cmax that is less than 0.75 times a Cmax of an instant release formulation containing said compound or said salt.
