Abstract
Aspects of the invention relate to systems, devices and methods for performing a surgical step or surgical procedure with visual guidance using an optical head mounted display.
Claims35
A system comprising:
- a see through optical head mounted display, and
- a processor, wherein the processor is configured to display a virtual implant onto a surface of a surgical site,
- wherein the processor is configured to receive input from a first user interface to facilitate movement of the virtual implant,
- wherein the processor is configured to receive input from a second user interface to facilitate fitting of at least a portion of a surface of the virtual implant with at least a portion of a surface of the surgical site based on two or more parameters at or surrounding or associated with the surgical site, and
- wherein the virtual implant is a three-dimensional digital representation corresponding to at least one portion of a physical implant component, a placement indicator of the physical implant component, or a combination thereof.

- a processor, wherein the processor is configured to display a virtual implant onto a surface of a surgical site,
- wherein the processor is configured to receive input from a first user interface to facilitate movement of the virtual implant,
- wherein the processor is configured to receive input from a second user interface to facilitate alignment of at least a portion of a surface of the virtual implant with at least a portion of a surface of the surgical site based on two or more parameters at or surrounding or associated with the surgical site, and
- wherein the virtual implant is a three-dimensional digital representation corresponding to at least one portion of a physical implant component, a placement indicator of the physical implant component, or a combination thereof.

A method, the method comprising:
- registering, using a first processor, one or more intra-operative coordinates of a surgical site in a patient;
- generating, by a system comprising a see through optical head mounted display and a second processor, a virtual implant, wherein the virtual implant is a three-dimensional digital representation corresponding to at least one portion of a physical implant, a placement indicator of the physical implant, or a combination thereof;
- and
- displaying, using the system, the virtual implant onto a surface of the surgical site visible directly through the see through optical head mounted display, so as to superimpose the virtual implant onto the surface of the surgical site, and so as to facilitate use of two or more parameters at or surrounding or associated with the surgical site to facilitate movement and alignment of at least one portion of a surface of the virtual implant with at least one portion of a surface of the surgical site.
