Abstract
An apparatus for dynamic range enhancement (DRE) which receives an input signal and provides a DRE output signal is presented. The apparatus has an error correction circuit to apply an error correction factor to the input signal such that the DRE output signal provided by the apparatus is dependent on the input signal and the error correction factor. The error correction factor is representative of an error generated by the apparatus.

An apparatus for dynamic range enhancement (DRE) which receives an input signal and provides a DRE output signal, comprising:
- an error correction circuit configured to apply an error correction factor to the input signal such that the DRE output signal provided by the apparatus is dependent on the input signal and the error correction factor;
- wherein:
- the error correction factor is representative of an error generated by the apparatus.
A method of dynamic range enhancement (DRE) using an apparatus comprising an error correction circuit, the method comprising the steps of:
- receiving an input signal at the apparatus;
- applying an error correction factor to the input signal using the error correction circuit;
- and
- providing a DRE output signal;
- wherein:
- the DRE output signal provided by the apparatus is dependent on the input signal and the error correction factor;
- and:
- the error correction factor is representative of an error generated by the apparatus.
