An audio control and distribution system in a location

An audio control and distribution system in a location, comprising:

• A. a first wireless media device comprising:
• a. at least one wireless network interface operably connected to a network and to a network controller processor, wherein
• (i) the network comprises a local network operably connecting the first wireless media device with at least one second media device, each second media device operably connected to said local network;
• (ii) a remote media source, operably connected to the local network, is controlled at least in part using said network controller processor via said at least one wireless network interface, and
• (iii) the location of the local network is (a) a home, (b) an office, or (c) an automobile;
• b. a first wireless media device storage medium operably connected to and controlled at least in part by a storage controller processor, the first wireless media device storage medium configured to store computer program instructions, media files and media metadata, at least one of said media metadata identifying media content available to the first wireless media device from at least one media source for at least one of:
• (i) downloading, (ii) streaming, or (iii) playing either on the first wireless media device or on the second media device;
• c. a programmable processor configured to execute the computer program instructions stored on said first wireless media device storage medium, said computer program instructions including program instructions that when executed enable said first wireless media device to at least in part control the second media device;
• d. a first wireless media device audio output device comprising a speaker operably connected to said programmable processor, and used for outputting audio;
• e. a display screen displaying a user interface generated at least in part by the programmable processor, the user interface having user-selectable items including indicia of:
• (i) the at least one media source,
• (ii) at least some media metadata indicative of media content available from the at least one media source for playing, downloading, or streaming;
• and
• (iii) the second media device operably connected to said local network;
• and
• B. wherein each second media device comprises a network interface operably connectable to said local network, and wherein each second media device connected to said local network is controllable by said first wireless media device.

An audio control and distribution system in a location, comprising:

• A. A first portable media player comprising:
• a. at least one network interface operably connected to a network and to a network controller processor, wherein
• (i) the network comprises a local network operably connecting the first portable media player with a second media device,
• (ii) a remote media source, operably connected to the local network, is controlled at least in part using said network controller processor via said at least one network interface, and
• (iii) the location of the network is one of (a) a home, (b) an office, or (c) an automobile;
• b. a first media player storage medium operably connected to and controlled at least in part by a storage controller processor, the first media player storage medium configured to store computer program instructions, media files, and media metadata, at least one of said media metadata identifying media content available to the first portable media player from a media source for downloading, streaming or playing either on the first portable media device or on the second media device;
• c. a media player programmable processor configured to execute the computer program instructions stored on said storage medium, said computer program instructions including program code that when executed enables said first portable media player to control at least in part the second media device operably connected to said local network;
• d. a first media player audio output device comprising at least one speaker operably connect to said programmable processor and used for outputting audio;
• e. a media player display screen arranged to display a user interface generated by the media player programmable processor, wherein the user interface having user-selectable items including indicia of:
• (i) the media source;
• (ii) at least some of the media metadata indicative of media content available from the media source for playing, downloading, or streaming;
• or
• (iii) the second media device operably connected to said local network;
• and
• B. a first wireless media device comprising:
• a. at least one wireless network interface operably connected to the local network;
• b. a first wireless media device audio output device comprising a speaker operably connected to a processor, and used for outputting audio;
• c. a first wireless media device storage medium, the storage medium configured to store computer program instructions, media files and media metadata, at least one of said media metadata identifying media content available from a media source for downloading, streaming, or playing;
• d. a programmable processor configured to execute the computer program instructions stored on said first wireless media device storage medium, said computer program instructions including program code that when executed enables said wireless media device be controlled by said first portable media player operably connected to said local network;
• e. a display screen arranged to display a user interface, the user interface having user-selectable items including indicia of:
• (i) the media source,
• (ii) at least some of the media metadata indicative of media content available from a media source for playing, downloading, or streaming.
