Abstract
A software application is provided to easily determine an indication of an amount of light available at a location at a given point in time. The software application may be used indoors or outdoors and is configured to be easy to use and highly accurate.
Claims20
An apparatus comprising:
- a computer device;
- and
- software running on the computer device,
- wherein the software controls operation of components of the computer device to provide a means for determining an amount of available light at a particular location at a particular time or over a period of time by computing a plurality of possible paths of the sun across the sky at the particular or during the time interval, for mathematically transforming the one or more possible paths into a representation for output on a display of the computer device to guide scanning using a camera of the computer device across the possible paths and capture images of sky and any obstructions which might block the sun's light from reaching the computer device's location.

A method for determining an amount of available light at a particular location at a particular time or over a period of time, the method comprising:
- computing a plurality of possible paths of the sun across the sky at the particular or during the time interval;
- and
- mathematically transforming the one or more possible paths into a representation for output on a display of an apparatus to guide scanning using a camera of the computer device across the possible paths,
- wherein the scanning captures images of sky and any obstructions which might block the sun's light from reaching the computer device's location.
