Abstract
The invention provides glyphosate tolerant transgenic turfgrass plants, plant material, and seeds that have a specific transformation event. Also provided are assays for detecting the presence of the event. The invention also provides sequences for a variant EPSPS gene and a GAO2X gene, cassettes, and plants comprising the variant EPSPS gene and a GAO2X gene.

A method for detecting the presence of a nucleic acid sequence in a Kentucky bluegrass plant, plant cell, or plant material, the nucleic acid sequence being selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:
- 7, SEQ ID NO:
- 8, SEQ ID NO:
- 9, a complement of SEQ ID NO:
- 7, a complement of SEQ ID NO:
- 8, and a complement of SEQ ID NO:
- 9, the method comprising:
- a) amplifying a nucleic acid molecule obtained from the Kentucky bluegrass plant, plant cell, or plant material using at least two primers, wherein each primer is derived from SEQ ID NO:
- 7, SEQ ID NO:
- 8, or SEQ ID NO:
- 9, and, when used together, the primers produce an amplicon diagnostic for a Kentucky bluegrass plant comprising SEQ ID NO:
- 7, SEQ ID NO:
- 8, or SEQ ID NO:

- or
- b) hybridizing the nucleic acid molecule obtained from the Kentucky bluegrass plant, plant cell, or plant material to a probe comprising 15 or more contiguous nucleotides of any portion of SEQ ID NO:

- 9, the complement of SEQ ID NO:

A kit comprising at least two primers, the at least two primers:

- 8 and, when used together, are capable of producing an amplicon diagnostic for a Kentucky bluegrass plant comprising SEQ ID NO:
