Abstract
Various aspects related to various apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable medium are described herein. Some aspects may enable an apparatus to protect downlink (DL) communication(s). Some aspects may enable an apparatus to perform DL communication(s). Some aspects may enable an apparatus to communicate regarding uplink (UL) communication(s). Some aspects may enable an apparatus to perform operation(s) related to an allocation vector. Some aspects may enable an apparatus to perform operation(s) related to random access. Some aspects may enable an apparatus to perform UL communication(s). The written description and appended drawings provide detailed descriptions regarding these and many other aspects.

A station (STA) for wireless communication, the STA comprising:
- a transceiver configured to receive a downlink (DL) transmission comprising a packet intended for a plurality of STAs;
- and
- one or more processors configured to use a field included in the packet to determine a total number of space-time streams (STSs) included in the packet and to further use the field to select a subset of values from a set of values indicating a number of STSs intended for each of at least some of the plurality of STAs,
- wherein the transceiver is further configured to receive an uplink (UL) transmission request (ULTR) configured to trigger UL transmission within a period of time after receiving the ULTR, the ULTR comprising (i) a portion including a field common to one or more STAs and indicating a duration of at least a portion of the UL transmission, (ii) a portion including a plurality of user-specific fields that at least in part indicates a description of resource allocation for the UL transmission, and (iii) a field comprising a plurality of bits, wherein at least some of the plurality of bits included in the field of the ULTR at least in part determine an index of available resources, wherein a first range of possible values for the at least some of the plurality of bits included in the field of the ULTR is associated with a resource size or a number of resources that is different from another resource size or number of resources associated with a second range of possible values for the at least some of the plurality of bits included in the field of the ULTR,
- wherein the one or more processors is/are further configured to at least in part use (i), (ii), and (iii) from the received ULTR to generate a signal for UL transmission after receiving the ULTR, and the transceiver is further configured to transmit the generated signal for the UL transmission.
A method of wireless communication by a station (STA), the method comprising:
- receiving a downlink (DL) transmission comprising a packet intended for a plurality of STAs;
- using a field included in the packet to determine a total number of space-time streams (STSs) included in the packet, and to further using the field to select a subset of values from a set of values indicating a number of STSs intended for each of at least some of the plurality of STAs;
- receiving an uplink (UL) transmission request (ULTR) configured to trigger UL transmission within a period of time after receiving the ULTR, the ULTR comprising (i) a portion including a field common to one or more STAs and indicating a duration of at least a portion of the UL transmission, (ii) a portion including a plurality of user-specific fields that at least in part indicates a description of resource allocation for the UL transmission, and (iii) a field comprising a plurality of bits, wherein at least some of the plurality of bits included in the field of the ULTR at least in part determine an index of available resources, wherein a first range of possible values for the at least some of the plurality of bits included in the field of the ULTR is associated with a resource size or a number of resources that is different from another resource size or number of resources associated with a second range of possible values for the at least some of the plurality of bits included in the field of the ULTR;
- and
- using, at least in part, (i), (ii), and (iii) from the received ULTR to generate a signal for UL transmission after receiving the ULTR and transmitting the generated signal in the UL transmission.
An access point (AP) for wireless communication, the AP comprising:
- one or more processor configured to generate a downlink (DL) transmission comprising a packet intended for a plurality of stations (STAs);
- and
- a transceiver configured to transmit the generated DL transmission, wherein a field included in the packet is useable by at least a STA of the plurality of STAs to determine a total number of space-time streams (STSs) included in the packet, and the field is further useable by the at least one STA to select a subset of values from a set of values indicating a number of STSs intended for each of at least some of the plurality of STAs,
- wherein the one or more processors is further configured to generate an uplink (UL) transmission request (ULTR) for transmission by the transceiver, wherein the ULTR is configured to trigger UL transmission by at least one STA within a period of time after receiving the ULTR, the ULTR comprising (i) a portion including a field common to one or more STAs and indicating a duration of at least a portion of the UL transmission, (ii) a portion including a plurality of user-specific fields that at least in part indicates a description of resource allocation for the UL transmission, and (iii) a field comprising a plurality of bits, wherein at least some of the plurality of bits included in the field of the ULTR at least in part determine an index of available resources, wherein a first range of possible values for the at least some of the plurality of bits included in the field of the ULTR is associated with a resource size or a number of resources that is different from another resource size or number of resources associated with a second range of possible values for the at least some of the plurality of bits included in the field of the ULTR, and
- wherein (i), (ii), and (iii) from the received ULTR are at least in part used by the at least one STA to generate a signal for UL transmission after receiving the ULTR.
