Information processing method and electronic device

A method comprising:

• receiving measurements of co-frequency interference between individual small cell base stations (“small cells) for a group of small cells within wireless communication range of a macro cell base station (“macro cell”) for a wireless communication network;
• receiving signal strength measurements for the individual small cells of the group from a user equipment (“UE”) within wireless communication range of the macro cell;
• and
• selecting one of the small cells as an optimal base station for the UE, based on the signal strength measurements received from the UE for the individual small cells within the group and on measurements of co-frequency interference between the individual small cells of the group.

A program product comprising a computer readable storage medium that stores code executable by a processor, the executable code comprising code to cause a macro cell base station for a wireless communication network to:

• receive measurements of co-frequency interference between individual small cell base stations (“small cells) for a group of small cells within wireless communication range of the macro cell;
• receive signal strength measurements for the individual small cells of the group from a user equipment (“UE”) within wireless communication range of the macro cell;
• and
• select one of the small cells as an optimal base station for the UE, based on the signal strength measurements received from the UE for the individual small cells within the group and on measurements of co-frequency interference between the individual small cells of the group.
