Implementing and optimizing secure socket layer intercept

A method for intercepting encrypted data packets, the method comprising:

• intercepting, by a first device serving a client-side data traffic associated with a client device, at least one encrypted data packet;
• decrypting, by the first device, the at least one encrypted packet to produce at least one decrypted data packet;
• providing, by the first device, the at least one decrypted data packet to one or more monitoring devices for inspection of the at least one decrypted data packet;
• receiving, by a second device serving a server-side data traffic associated with a server, from the one or more monitoring devices, the at least one decrypted data packet;
• and
• re-encrypting, by the second device, the at least one decrypted data packet to produce the at least one encrypted data packet.

A system for intercepting encrypted data packets, the system comprising:

• a first device serving a client-side data traffic associated with a client device, the first device being a hardware device configured to:
• intercept at least one encrypted data packet;
• decrypt the at least one encrypted packet to produce at least one decrypted data packet;
• and
• provide the at least one decrypted data packet to a firewall, the firewall filtering incoming data packets and outgoing data packets using predetermined criteria, wherein the firewall is configured to filter decrypted data packets, wherein the firewall includes:
• a first monitoring device of the one or more monitoring devices, the first monitoring device being configured to inspect the at least one decrypted data packet to determine whether the at least one decrypted data packet includes a malware;
• and
• a second monitoring device of the one or more monitoring devices, the second monitoring device being configured to inspect the at least one decrypted data packet to determine whether the at least one decrypted data packet includes a botnet;
• wherein the at least one decrypted data packet is forwarded by the firewall to the first monitoring device and the second monitoring device for inspection of the at least one decrypted data packet;
• and
• a second device serving a server-side data traffic associated with a server, the second device being a hardware device configured to:
• receive the at least one decrypted data packet from the firewall, the at least one decrypted data packet being received by the firewall from one of the first monitoring device and the second monitoring device upon the inspection;
• and
• re-encrypt the at least one decrypted data packet to produce the at least one encrypted data packet.
