Power storage and control system for a hybrid energy system

An energy storage system for use in a hybrid energy system for industrial power applications, comprising:

• a storage device configured to store energy;
• an inverter coupled to the storage device;
• and
• a hybrid management system coupled to the inverter and the storage device, and configured to control the inverter and the storage device so that stable loads of the industrial application are satisfied with power output from the power generation system and load swings of the industrial application are satisfied with power output from the storage device.

An energy storage system for use in a hybrid energy system that includes a gas turbine generator (GTG), comprising:

• a storage device configured to store energy;
• an inverter coupled to the storage device;
• and
• a hybrid management system coupled to the inverter and the storage device, and configured to control the inverter and the storage device to respond to an increasing desired load transient event when the GTG is initially stopped by discharging a portion of the stored energy capacity while the GTG is starting such that total power output hybrid energy system follows a ramping profile continuously increasing toward the desired load at a hybrid ramp rate that substantially matches a gas-turbine alone ramp rate as if the GTG were running in an on-line mode at the start of the transient event.
