Abstract
A method for fabricating a thermal composite includes pouring a mixture including a plurality of magnetically susceptible particles and a thermosetting polymer into a mold, placing the mold containing the mixture in a chamber including a plurality of magnet arrays, and heating the mold containing the mixture in the chamber for a time and at a temperature sufficient to cure the thermosetting polymer. At least one of the plurality of magnet arrays includes a Halbach array.
Claims20
A method for fabricating a thermal composite comprising:
- pouring a mixture comprising a plurality of magnetically susceptible particles and a thermosetting polymer into a mold;
- placing the mold containing the mixture in a chamber comprising a plurality of magnet arrays, wherein at least one of the plurality of magnet arrays comprises a Halbach array;
- and
- heating the mold containing the mixture in the chamber for a time and at a temperature sufficient to cure the thermosetting polymer.
A method for fabricating a thermal composite comprising:
- pouring a mixture comprising a plurality of functionalized boron nitride particles and an epoxy matrix into a mold;
- placing the mold containing the mixture in a chamber comprising a plurality of magnet arrays, wherein at least one of the plurality of magnet arrays comprises a Halbach array;
- and
- heating the mold containing the mixture in the chamber for a time and at a temperature sufficient to cure the epoxy.
A thermal composite comprising:
- a plurality of functionalized boron nitride particles dispersed in a cured epoxy matrix, wherein the plurality of functionalized boron nitride particles are oriented according to a magnetic field applied by a plurality of magnet arrays comprising Halbach arrays.
