System and method for efficient and automatic reporting and return of lost items

A computer implemented method for reporting lost items, comprising:

• receiving itinerary information and user information for a reservation for a user;
• storing the itinerary information and the user information in a first database;
• receiving, via a computing device, a lost item notification from a notifior, the lost item notification including at least notifior information and lost item information;
• determining whether the notifior information from the lost item report substantially matches the user information stored in the first database;
• retrieving at least a portion of the itinerary information from the first database associated with the user when it is determined that the notifior information from the lost item report substantially matches the user information stored in the first database;
• facilitating presentation of a list of one or more establishments associated with the retrieved itinerary information, the list of one or more establishments being presented on a display of the computing device associated with the notifior;
• receiving a selection of at least one establishment from the list of one or more establishments being presented;
• accessing establishment information associated with the selected at least one establishment from a data storage device;
• and
• generating and electronically transmitting a lost item report to the selected at least one establishment using the establishment information.

A computer readable medium including at least computer program code tangibly stored therein for reporting lost items, comprising:

• computer program code for receiving itinerary information and user information for a reservation for a plurality of users;
• computer program code for storing the itinerary information and the user information in a database;
• computer program code for receiving a lost item notification from a notifior via a computing device associated with the notifior, the lost item notification including at least notifior information and lost item information;
• computer program code for determining whether the notifior information from the lost item report substantially matches the user information stored in the database;
• computer program code for retrieving, from the database, itinerary information associated with a particular user when it is determined that the notifior information from the lost item report matches the user information stored in the database;
• computer program code for facilitating presentation of a list of one or more establishments associated with the retrieved itinerary information, the list of one or more establishments being presented on a display of the computing device associated with the notifior;
• computer program code for receiving a selection of at least one establishment from the list of one or more establishments being presented;
• computer program code for accessing establishment information associated with the selected at least one establishment from a data storage device or the database;
• and
• computer program code for generating and electronically transmitting a lost item report to the selected at least one establishment using the establishment information.
