Abstract
A method includes associating a virtual card number (VCN) with an account owned by a customer. The VCN is in a format used for account numbers in a payment card system. The account is not a payment card system account. After a P2M (person to merchant) push payment transaction funded by the account, a request is received from the customer to perform a chargeback with respect to the P2M transaction. A message is transmitted to execute the requested chargeback. The message includes the VCN.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- associating a virtual card number (VCN) with an account owned by a customer, said VCN in a format for account numbers used in a payment card system, said account owned by the customer not being a payment card system account;
- receiving a request for a payment card system transfer transaction, said requested transaction for transferring funds from said account owned by the customer to a payment card system account owned by a merchant;
- executing the requested payment card system transfer transaction via said payment card system;
- receiving, from the customer, a request for a chargeback transaction relative to said executed payment card system transfer transaction;
- and
- transmitting a message to execute the requested chargeback transaction, the message including the VCN.
An apparatus comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory in communication with the processor, the memory storing program instructions, the processor operative with the program instructions to perform functions as follows:
- associating a virtual card number (VCN) with an account owned by a customer, said VCN in a format for account numbers used in a payment card system, said account owned by the customer not being a payment card system account;
- receiving a request for a payment card system transfer transaction, said requested transaction for transferring funds from said account owned by the customer to a payment card system account owned by a merchant;
- executing the requested payment card system transfer transaction via said payment card system;
- receiving, from the customer, a request for a chargeback transaction relative to said executed payment card system transfer transaction;
- and
- transmitting a message to execute the requested chargeback transaction, the message including the VCN.
A non-transitory storage medium storing program instructions for controlling a processor to perform functions as follows:
- associating a virtual card number (VCN) with an account owned by a customer, said VCN in a format for account numbers used in a payment card system, said account owned by the customer not being a payment card system account;
- receiving a request for a payment card system transfer transaction, said requested transaction for transferring funds from said account owned by the customer to a payment card system account owned by a merchant;
- executing the requested payment card system transfer transaction via said payment card system;
- receiving, from the customer, a request for a chargeback transaction relative to said executed payment card system transfer transaction;
- and
- transmitting a message to execute the requested chargeback transaction, the message including the VCN.
